Rebecca Morris is the 9 year old daughter of Mary, a maid at the massive Bluecroft Hill Estate. Mary is a single mother who must take her daughter to work. Everyone at the mansion loves to see Rebecca...everyone except Anne Elizabeth, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Westley-the owners of Bluecroft Hill.
Tragedy strikes when Mary and Rebecca's house burns and they are forced to "hide out" in Bluecroft Hill until they can find somewhere else to live. Fortunately, Anne Elizabeth and her parents only visit Bluecroft Hill a few times a year.
But when they are at their country estate, Rebecca and Anne Elizabeth are forced to spend every day together while Anne Elizabeth is visiting. Keeping Anne Elizabeth occupied and Rebecca out of trouble seems almost impossible on most days!
